NEPtune The World Around Us is a new series of books designed for Classes 1-5, based on the recommendations of the National Curriculum Framework 2023. Through its interdisciplinary approach, the series fulfils the curricular goals and learning outcomes of The World Around Us domain, relating concepts in Environmental Studies, basic Science and Social Science to real life. It helps children to make connections between the environment and human society, and acquire the skills, values and dispositions they need to be responsible and caring in thought and action. Maheshwari Natarajan has worked as a teacher and administrator for over 30 years. She was the Vice Principal of the prestigious Vidya Mandir School, Chennai, and the Founder Principal of Vidya Mandir Estancia, where she worked till her retirement in 2019. Maheshwari Natarajan is a Master Trainer with CBSE, undertaking the regular training of teachers and principals on varied topics. She has also completed Post Graduate diplomas in Guidance and Counselling, and Educational Leadership Management from New Delhi. She has won several awards including the Guru Rabindranath Tagore Samman in 2019. She was awarded an Honorary D Litt for “service to suburban society” in 2021. Further, Maheshwari Natarajan is an assessor for NABET, a division of the Quality Council of India, specialising in school quality assessment. She sits on the board of several CBSE schools in Chennai. Presently, she is the Director of Agurchand Manmull Jain School, Chennai.
Sudha Suresh graduated in English and followed it up with a Masters’, B Ed and LLB. She has taught English and Geography at Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary, Chennai, for 28 years. She retired as the Vice Principal of the Senior Secondary School of Vidya Mandir. Throughout her career as a committed educationist, she has taken part in several workshops including the INTEL Teach to the Future Program (INTEL and Microsoft), Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences, Teacher Empowerment Program, among others. Sudha Suresh has also authored The Key to Happiness—the Moral Sciences Series for classes 1 to 5, published by Vision Books Mahaal, Chennai.
Vasumathy Srinivasan has had a rich and varied career spanning 30 years in education. She holds a Masters’ in English and an MBA in Educational Management. She has served as the Vice Principal of Vidya Mandir Estancia, Senior Principal & Academic Head of the Meenakshi Group of Schools, Principal of Hiranandani Upscale School and Founder Senior Principal of three schools—The Pupil Saveetha Eco School, SRM Public School and Sree Abhirami CBSE School. Vasumathy Srinivasan has served as the convenor of a committee responsible for inspecting schools seeking affiliation with the CBSE board. She was also a Certified Resource Person of CBSE, who conducted training workshops for teachers in various schools. As a training partner of Microsoft, Vasumathy Srinivasan is actively involved in contributing to the advancement of digital education and technology integration in the classroom.
